Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai Closed
photo update and tour
The last time I was at Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai was for their soft opening party two months ago and they were 90% complete with construction. There were four Muay Thai rings, twenty heavy bags and it looked like they were ready to open any day. But because they got screwed over by their Thai business partner, they were forced off the land and were only able to take their equipment with them and nothing else.
I drove up to Mae Rim to see the aftermath of Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai now Closed.
BEFORE: Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai - Soft Opening Party |
AFTER: Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai Closed |
As you can see from the photos, they took down all of the bags and even stripped the canvas off of the boxing rings. If I wasn't there when it was fully built, it would have looked like they were just in the process of finishing it, but since just a few months ago it was alive and well and now even the carpet from the floor has been stripped it was shocking and a sad site to see.
TMT Chiang Mai Muay Thai Rings |
I know some readers are not fans of Tiger Muay Thai or big Muay Thai gyms in general but it's never a happy day to see people get screwed over. TMT brought the first MMA gym to Thailand and basically setup the infrastructure for smaller Muay Thai and MMA gyms to open in Thailand. So even if you're not a fan of TMT, if you're a fan of accessible training camps in Thailand then it still sucks.
TMT Chiang Mai BJJ / MMA Area |
This photo is of the completed Yoga, BodyFit, MMA and BJJ area that has also been stripped. It doesn't look that big in the photos but when you're standing in each of the four rooms they are HUGE. It would have been a gigantic matted work space.
TMT Chiang Mai MMA Area |
Each of these rooms were big enough to hold a class of 30-50 students easily.
TMT Chiang Mai Accommodation |
Lastly here is a photo of the completely 48 room accommodations at Tiger Muay Thai in Chiang Mai. I have no idea what the thai "owner" of the land is going to do with these buildings. He won't be able to successfully open a Muay Thai gym as no one who has heard of the scandal will go to it and support him. I'll check back in a few months and see what the latest update is.
What are you thoughts on this sad event? Any additional news or updates?
Warm Regards,
Johnny FD

tiger didn't get screwed over by the land owner. the idiot tmt owner didn't havea proper land lease and didnt register the name in chiang mai so he was just as responsible for losing the land. then he fucked over the fighter that was building the accommodations on the property too. fuck tiger they deserved it
