I went home and came back for 3 months to do a Muay Thai camp. I loved it so much, that's all I could dream about when I was back in the U.S. So I came back again and did another three months. Ended up loving MMA as well so I discovered Tiger Muay Thai and Phuket Top Team, both which I spent a significant amount of time at.
Anyways, to celebrate, I've finally started an facebook page and I would really appreciate it if you guys helped me get it off the ground by "Liking" it and "Sharing" it on your wall. As of this morning I had exactly Zero friends, so let's see how many we can get once the ball gets rolling.
Secret Project:
One of the reasons why I finally started a facebook page, (yeah I know, welcome to 2006) is because I started turning my blog into a book. A lot of friends have asked me if I ever thought about writing a book about my travels and my life but I always said no. I figured, who the hell would want to read about my life, they can just go do it themselves. Then I realized, a lot of guys haven't even been to Thailand yet. They're still working at their office job, planning their trip, day dreaming about coming.
The other reason I didn't want to write this book is because why would I charge for something that is already free on my blog? I started MyFightCamp because there wasn't really any information out there about all the different training camps in Thailand and I wanted to share my experience with everyone else. If you read through the posts you'll find everything from how to not get ripped off by taxi drivers at the airport, to how much you should expect to spend each month and how much you should budget. And if you read between the lines in all of my reviews you'll already know which gym I think is better, "Tiger Muay Thai vs. Phuket Top Team." vs. all of the others in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and even in the rest of Phuket.
I kind of already mentioned what the worst Muay Thai gym I ever trained at was and why I would never go back. But to be honest, I can't really flat out say things like that on my blog. Before I started my blog, I emailed one of the admins of one of the biggest Muay Thai Gym review websites and said to him.
"Bro, what the fuck. This gym that you reviewed ___________ fucking sucks, and you must have known that. Why didn't you just say straight up in your review that it sucks and to not go there?"
He sent me an email back saying, "yeah I know it sucks, but you know, this is Thailand, and you have to be politically correct about things."
So yeah, I figured, I guess he's kind of right. You can write pros and cons of a gym, but it's up to the reader to read between the lines and figure it out for themselves. But fuck it, in my book, I'm just going to flat out say what I really think, the truth.
The other reason why I'm writing this book is because I'm sick of getting the same questions all of the damn time. I don't mind answering them because I know how hard it is to plan out a trip to Thailand and it is to pick a gym to dedicate your savings and and your only vacation of the year to train at. But I'm always thinking, wtf, I wrote about this, just search the damn blog. Turns out, people don't want to read through 3 years worth of blog entries. So I'm just going write it in a way it makes sense and have all of the info in one place and in order with a table of contents and everything. Yeah, super high class, I know.
Anyways, while I'm writing it, feel free to suggest what you're going to want in the book and I'll make sure it's in there. Leave a comment before and ask away!
Warm Regards,
Johnny @ My Fight Camp
P.S. if you haven't done so already, wtf are you waiting for, "Like" us on facebook and help a brother out.
