Fight Camp Update

So it's been a few months since I cut my last fight camp short in Phuket.  I was running out of money and ended up getting a job teaching scuba diving in Borneo.  But I tried to keep my training up while I've been here.  Doing pull ups, hitting the bag at the local gym and doing a lot of hiking.  I'm getting ready to climb the highest Mountain in SE Asia, Mt. Kinabalu.

But I'm saving up to do another fight camp.  Just trying to decide where.  I recently visited the Philippines for my first time and wouldn't mind doing an MMA camp in Bagiuo City with maybe Team Lakay Tap Team.

Or I might go up to Chiang Mai and continue Muay Thai for a while.  The only reason why I'm not going back to Phuket this trip is because I want a change of scenery.  Phuket is great but life is almost too easy there.  I want something new and different.  I've even considered going back to Koh Lanta and fighting out of the William's Group Lanta Gym because I heard they built a new gym and a new stadium.  But mainly because I can do both diving and Muay Thai while i'm in Koh Lanta.

Team Lakay Tap Team: The Philippines.

I'm also training for my second Tough Mudder, SoCal #2 on July 7th in Los Angeles.  I'll be back home for the summer and going try to stay in shape while i'm there.  Last year it took me 7 hours to finish, and I barely made it.  Literally running on nothing but heart for the last 3 hours.  So my goal was to get in better shape and conquer it this year.  I suggest it to anyone in the U.S. to give it a shot.

I'll keep you guys update on where I end up next.  I'm leaning towards Chiang Mai because my first love is Muay Thai and I really want to have at least 10 fights under my belt before I start getting into MMA.

Warm Regards,

Johnny @ My Fight camp

  2. Dear Johnny, I've been watching your vid on packing for a one year stay in Thailand, what was that big bag that you have in it? and was it enough for just muay thai equipment and clothes and other stuff for your stay?

    1. Hey John. I also had some scuba diving gear in the big bag which is why I had so much stuff. The things I brought ended up being pretty spot on what I needed.

    Johnny great blog,

I just stumbled on your blog seems very good. What do you mean about the 'cool' people at TMT meant. Do these people train or just party?
For someone with experience who is blue belt in bjj but has no muay thai experience go to train?

    1. Hey. You'll be fine with Muay Thai, they have beginner classes. If anything, take a private to get the basics down. Most people go there with good intentions to train. A lot of people, 30% end up just partying and not really training very often, or at all. It's up to you
